Due to the call for demonstrations on November 11: The SSSP ordered the imprisonment of three citizens in Case No. 1893/2022

The Egyptian Front for Human Rights (EFHR) monitored that the Supreme State Security Prosecution (SSSP) yesterday, October 25, 2022, ordered the imprisonment of three citizens in Case No. 1893/ 2022 on accusations of joining and financing a terrorist group, misusing social media, publishing false news, and incitement to commit a terrorist crime, which came within a framework of frequent news of the appearance of twelve other people in the same case.
The arrest of the accused defendants started on different days. The first day was on October 10, 2022. Their arrest on them happened after they made videos on topics of high prices and the current economic crisis and called for citizens to participate in the demonstrations on November 11, in parallel with the holding of the Climate Conference in Egypt COP27. They shared these videos With a TV interviewer residing outside Egypt called Hossam Al-Ghamry. The SSSP ordered the imprisonment of them all for fifteen days pending investigations.

It is worth noting the Egyptian Front monitored that Egyptian authorities disappeared and detained an individual for joining a Facebook group calling for demonstrations on 11th November 2022 under the title “Climate Revolution” around COP27 in Egypt.

Context: National human rights organizations have estimated tens of thousands of persons arbitrarily detained on political grounds since 2013 in Egypt, such as Alaa Abdel Fattah, Mohamed El-Baker, Marwa Arafa, Ismail Al-Iskandarani, Mohamed Oxygen, Aisha Al Shater, Ibrahim Metwally, Ezzat Ghoneim, Hoda Abdel Moneim, Ahmed Abdelsattar Amasha, Anas El Beltagy, Seif Fateen, Sherif Al Rouby.
