The State Security Prosecution (SSSP) has decided to detain translator and cartoonist Ashraf Omar in Case No. 1968/ 2024 on charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media, following his forcible disappearance for two days.
Ashraf was arrested on the morning of Monday, July 22, from his home, during which he was blindfolded, and a large sum of money was seized from his residence.
It is worth noting that Ashraf’s last cartoons, published on Al-Manassa, focused on the liquidation of state assets and criticized the electricity crisis.
