After more than two years since the reactivation of the Presidential Pardon Committee: Limited releases compared to a larger number of arrests

More than two years after the reactivation of the Pardon Committee at the end of April 2022, EFHR has observed the continued modest numbers of releases in political cases announced by the Pardon Committee and the Public Prosecution, compared to an increase in the number of individuals arrested in State Security cases, which has reached around three times the number of those released in the same period.

In addition, the authorities continue to detain and renew the detention of thousands of citizens before the Supreme State Security Prosecution (SSSP) and terrorism circuits in the Criminal Court (TCC), which has released only 145 people during that period while renewing the detention of the rest of the detainees.
