The EFHR monitored that today, on October 9th, the Qasr al-Nil Prosecution investigated four students: Nada Mohamed Abdel-ghafour, Habiba Tamer Mohamed Fouad Hanafi, Shehab Ahmed Rifaat Ahmed, and Abdullah Fahmy Abdelwahab Fahmy, in connection with Case No. 7331 of 2024, Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanors. This investigation is due to their organization of a protest in support of Palestine and Lebanon on the Nile Corniche on the evening of Monday, October 7th, 2024. They were arrested during the protest and taken to Qasr al-Nil Police Station, where they were held until they were brought before the prosecution today.
The prosecution charged the four students with organizing an unauthorized protest, public shouting, and inciting the public to break the law. They were confronted with seized items, including Palestinian and Lebanese flags and banners that read “Down with the Occupation.” The Qasr al-Nil Prosecution decided to postpone their case until tomorrow, pending an investigation into the incident, with their detention being extended.
