After Five and a Half Years of Detention and Case Rotation: Detainee Hamdi Yousry Hashem Dies in the 10th of Ramadan Prison Due to Medical Negligence

The Egyptian Front for Human Rights monitored the death of Hamdi Yousry Hashem (62 years old) on April 20, 2025, at the medical center of the 10th of Ramadan Prison, as a result of medical negligence by the 10th of Ramadan Reform and Rehabilitation Center. He had been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, as well as hypertension and diabetes.

Hamdi Yousry was arrested on November 26, 2019, and was subjected to case rotation multiple times. He died while being held in pre-trial detention in connection with Case No. 2215 of 2022 before the Supreme State Security Prosecution, on charges of joining and financing a terrorist organization.
