For publishing posts about the case of the child Yassin: the SSSP accused around 10 citizens of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media

EFHR monitored the investigation of around ten citizens, including two women, by the Supreme State Security Prosecution on May 4 and 5, 2025, in connection with Case No. 3284 of 2025 (Supreme State Security). The charges brought against them include joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing of social media.

These actions came in response to posts made by some of them on social media regarding the case of the child Yassin and its sectarian dimension.

The citizens were arrested from their homes on May 1 and 2 from various governorates, including Kafr El-Sheikh and Cairo. They were taken to premises affiliated with the National Security Agency, where they were questioned about the content shared on their social media accounts. They remained in these locations for three days in unlawful detention before being brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution, which, after questioning them, ordered their release on the basis of their place of residence.
