EFHR documented the decision of the Supreme State Security Prosecution- SSSP on 21 June 2025 to remand Dr. Suzanne Mohamed Suleiman Mahmoud (67 years old – a surgeon) in custody for 15 days pending investigation in Case No. 4880 of 2025. She faced charges including joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.
Dr. Suzanne was arrested from her home on 12 June at around midnight by a security force. Her eyes were blindfolded, and she was taken to an undisclosed location. She was interrogated regarding her presence in a social media group that was focused on supporting an Egyptian convoy to Gaza and calling for an end to the blockade.
She remained in unlawful detention for nine days at a National Security Agency Headquarter before being brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution.
