The Egyptian Front for Human Rights (EFHR) calls on the Egyptian authorities to disclose the whereabouts of Egyptian engineer Omar Khaled Abdel Moneim Nazem, who works at IT company in Saudi Arabia, after he has been missing for ten days following his arrival at Cairo International Airport at around 11:00 p.m. on 30 July 2025 on a flight from Riyadh.
According to his family, Omar completed passport control procedures at the airport’s arrival hall, but was stopped while his passport was being stamped and was asked to wait. Shortly afterward, contact with him was lost, his phone was switched off, and his family has been unable to reach him since that moment.
The family stated that they searched for him at the Airport Police and at El-Nozha Police Station to no avail, and submitted several complaints to the Public Prosecutor and the Minister of Interior — which EFHR has reviewed — calling for disclosure of his place of detention and his release. They affirmed that Omar does not belong to any political groups and expressed concern that he may be implicated in cases or face charges, noting that he holds an Egyptian passport issued in 2023.
EFHR holds the Egyptian authorities fully responsible for his safety, and stresses the urgent need to immediately disclose Omar’s place of detention, affirming that the continued concealment of his whereabouts constitutes a serious violation of Egyptian law, the Constitution, and international agreements.
