On allegations of transporting construction equipment and bricks to Al-Warraq Island: SSSP detains at least ten citizens on charges including joining a terrorist group, participating in an illegal gathering, misuse of social media, and deliberately spreading false news and statements

The EFHR has documented that, since the beginning of this week, the Supreme State Security Prosecution- SSSP has been investigating approximately ten defendants, all from Qalyubia Governorate, in connection with Case No. 10709 of 2025. The prosecution charged the defendants with joining a terrorist group, participating in an illegal gathering, misuse of social media, and deliberately spreading false news and statements.

Security forces affiliated with the National Security Agency arrested the defendants on 18 December 2025 from their homes and transferred them to the National Security premises in Shubra El-Kheima, where they were subjected to unlawful detention for four days. During this period, they were questioned over allegations related to transporting construction equipment, tools, and bricks to Al-Warraq Island on the night of 15 December 2025.

The defendants were later brought before the SSSP, which confronted them with National Security Agency investigations and charged them with participating in an illegal gathering on 18 December 2025 on Al-Warraq Island. The prosecution ordered their pretrial detention for fifteen days pending investigation in the case.
