EFHR monitored the decision made today, May 24, 2026, by the Supreme State Security Prosecution- SSSP to detain the activist Nael Hassan Mohamed for fifteen days pending investigation in Case No. 4373 of 2026. He faces charges of “spreading false news domestically and abroad, and using a website on an information network for the purpose of promoting terrorist acts.”
Nael Hassan had received a phone summons on May 20 from the National Security Agency in the Alexandria Governorate to appear at its headquarters. On May 21, he went to the National Security headquarters in the Abis area in response to the summons, after which all contact with him was lost. He remained missing until he appeared today before the Supreme State Security Prosecution for interrogation regarding the aforementioned case.
