The Supreme State Security Prosecution issued a decision to renew Ahmad Tariq Ziadeh’s detention for 15 days for the second time since the arrest and investigation of case No. 467 of 2018. The state prosecution has charged him with joining a group based on Other than the law and the propagation and promotion of false news.
Tariq was arrested at 3 am on Sunday 18 February 2018 from his family home in the village of Nahia in Giza by people wearing some uniforms and another civilian. They raided the house, searched its contents, confiscated Ahmad’s personal belongings, confiscated his computer and mobile phone, and interrogated him at his home for an hour before being taken to an unknown location.
His lawyer told the Egyptian Front that Tariq was subjected to enforced disappearance for 4 days in one of the National Security headquarters where he was subjected to physical and moral coercion. Tarek’s family submitted a communication to the Attorney General carrying No. 2253 of 2018 stating that he disappeared. To appear for the first time in the Supreme State Security Prosecution on February 21 where he was interrogated without the presence of a lawyer.
