Today, May 4, 2023, the Supreme State Security Prosecution (SSSP) decided to detain the citizen: Muhammad Naguib Mahmoud Muhammad Tantawi, the uncle of the former parliamentarian Ahmed Tantawi (Former teacher’s union candidate in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate (68 years old ) for 15 days pending case No. 2397/ 2021 on an accusation of joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its purposes.
Muhammad was arrested from his home yesterday, May 3, 2023, at two o’clock in the morning, then taken to the National Security headquarters in Kafr El-Sheikh and remained there until he appeared before the prosecution today.
The prosecution confronted him with evidence, including publications about preparing for the return of former parliamentarian Ahmed Tantawi to Egypt after he declared his return to Egypt on May 6, in addition to his intention to run for the presidential elections.
