This submission to the Committee of the Rights of the Child (CRC), ahead of the adoption of the Concluding Observations for Egypt at its 96th session, is based on information gathered by the Egyptian Front for Human Rights and Minority Rights Group. It provides information on children’s rights from religious and ethnic minorities in Egypt. This includes Nubians, Amazigs, Bedouins, and Beja, as well as religious minorities like Christians, Baháʼís, and others. It covers a range of issues, including identification and statehood, personal status, freedom of religion and belief, child marriage, healthcare, and education.
This document will aid the CRC in its review of the Egyptian government and bring focus to the experiences of children from marginalized or persecuted communities. The report and ongoing advocacy of MRG and partners aim to influence the Committee’s recommendations to the Egyptian government.
