Today, the Supreme State Security Prosecution detained citizen Gamal Abdel Hameed Ziada, the father of journalist and Egyptian Journalists Syndicate member Ahmed Gamal Ziada, who is currently in exile. He is held in Case No. 2064/2023, accused of joining an illegal group, spreading false news, and misusing social media. This decision comes one day after he was arrested on August 22, 2023, by security forces dressed in civilian clothes in the Nahiya area at 4:00 PM. He was taken to an undisclosed location until his appearance in the prosecution today.
It is worth noting that his family had submitted petitions to the prosecution, the Minister of Interior, and the President to document the circumstances of his arrest and to demand his release.
