EFHR condemns the crackdown on activists who demonstrated in front of the Journalists Syndicate in solidarity with Palestine

The Egyptian Front for Human Rights condemns the crackdown carried out by the authorities last night and early this morning on April 4th, which targeted political activists who demonstrated yesterday alongside citizens and politicians in front of the Journalists Syndicate in solidarity with Palestine. They criticized the government’s policies towards the war in Gaza. The number of detainees has reached at least 6 individuals, including:

  • Mohamed Awaad
  • Mostafa Ahmed
  • Ahmed Sobehi
  • Mamdouh Nawar
  • Abdelkarim Magdi
  • A.M.

It is worth mentioning that these solidarity protests with Palestine in front of the Journalists Syndicate are not the first since the outbreak of the war in Gaza. They came following calls from various civil political movements. Yesterday’s demonstration included chants strongly criticizing the government’s policies towards the humanitarian situation in Gaza, accusing it of besieging the strip. There were chants against the Sinai businessman Ibrahim Al-Arajani, who is accused of collecting large sums of money to facilitate the exit of individuals from Gaza to Egypt during the war.
