Journalist Mai Sabbagh was transferred to Al-Abadiyya prison after being held for 15 days

The police station of Al-Attarin in Alexandria decided to transfer the journalist Mai Said Al-Sabbagh to Al-Abadiya prison in Damanhour, after one week being held in the police station in case No. 5768 of 2018 AL-Attarin, accusing her with her colleague Ahmed Mustafa of broadcasting false news and joining a group established against the law.

Security forces arrested Mai AL-Sabbagh, journalist at Raseef22 and Al Bayan, at 12 pm on February 28 while talking to Raml Station inspectors as part of a Photo report on the Tram in Alexandria. Her fiance said to Egyptian front that Mai faced psychological pressure during an investigation of national security for several hours to force her to admit about her membership in a political group.

The prosecution issued a decision to imprison Al-Sabbagh for 15 days accusing her of joining a group established against the law aimed at disrupting the constitution and terrorism, filming without permission from the Ministry of Culture, practicing without a license, and finally having audio and video with the aim of broadcasting false news and statements that would disturb security and the destruction of the country’s basic systems.
